Pressures of life, and emotional and physical trauma put stress on our bodies and minds, which can impact our day-to-day functioning.

Whether you’ve tried everything else or at the start of your healing journey,  Craniosacral Therapy meets you where you are at, on any given day.

I suffered from a prolapse disc which hit my sciatic nerve and caused my foot to drop. After trying a few different therapies with no success, I was lucky to find Sally. The treatment was gentle and seemed quite subtle. I walked away feeling lighter and relaxed but not very hopeful that the pain would ease. I woke up the following morning and couldn’t believe the transformation: the pain had eased, my foot was more mobile and my movement had improved by at least 70%. I carried on seeing Sally until I felt back to normal. My medical records showed I should’ve had an operation but they didn’t contact me, which I now know was extremely lucky as within 5 months, my prolapse had rectified itself almost completely.

Following a sports injury, I saw Sally for an ankle problem. I was in pain and my body was stiff and off balance. I couldn’t stand comfortably at work. After just one treatment, I felt relief, the swelling went down and my posture improved. I also feel calmer for longer after treatments. They help me keep balanced and grounded.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Craniosacral Therapy has its roots in Osteopathy, founded by Dr Andrew Taylor Still, in the nineteenth century.  Its main assumptions being, we are born with a life force (chi or prana), and our bodies are naturally always seeking health.  Craniosacral Therapy reconnects with your underlying health, releases chronic tension and reduces stress, to improve both physical and mental well being; leaving you to feel more resourced and in touch with your true self.  Craniosacral Therapy is very gentle so can be used in conjunction with other medical treatments, on people of all ages.

  • We will begin with you outlining your concerns, and intentions for the session, taking time to go through your health history.

Clients remain clothed throughout, and a light contact is made to various parts of the body and head, guided by your individual needs.

You may find yourself drifting off or becoming more aware of sensations within your body. Thoughts may come and go; and at times, there may be moments of complete stillness.

Following the session, there is an opportunity to discuss findings and if appropriate, you may be given some home care to practise between sessions.

  • It is advised to wear comfortable clothing and remove contact lenses for the treatment. Following the session, people may feel a little sleepy so it is best not to have anything too vigorous planned for afterwards.  Drinking water following the session is also advised.

  • Craniosacral Therapy is considered a Complementary Therapy.  Some private health insurance companies cover CAMs but this depends on the policy you choose. Some policies may include them as standard, or it could be a feature you add.  Check with your policy documents to determine what is covered.  I am registered with Craniosacral Therapy Association and can provide my membership number and receipts on request.

  • Craniosacral Therapy  is regarded as a safe treatment with few adverse side effects.  However, people suffering from acute head trauma, brain aneurysm, blood clots and cerebral swelling should not seek Craniosacral treatment.
